How a shower glass quote is built
What makes up the price, when it gets locked in, and which items are usually billed separately.
A shower glass quote always has four parts: glass, hardware, labor, and consumables. Friction with a contractor almost always happens where one of those parts was discussed and another was not.
Glass is priced by area, factoring thickness, type (standard or low-iron), edge work, holes, and notches. Non-standard geometry — a neo-angle, a bevel, a notch around a shelf — increases fabrication cost, not just square footage.
Hardware is priced as a package: hinges, clamps, handle, support bar, seals. The gap between an entry-level and a premium line within the same project can be substantial, so we always present two package options.
Labor covers the measure, delivery, installation, and sealing. Typically billed separately: demolition and haul-away of the old unit, stair carry without an elevator, weekend work, wall plane correction, and non-standard anchoring into concrete.
The price locks after the measure and drawing approval. Before the measure any number is a range, because real geometry may call for a different solution. We consider it normal practice to take a materials deposit with the balance due after install and the water test.
