How to prep your bathroom for shower glass install day
Access, elevators, floor protection, and silicone cure time for a clean handoff.
Install day goes faster and calmer when the bathroom is prepped. Clear rugs, baskets, fragile décor, and everything off the sill: the crew needs staging room to set a heavy panel safely, and glass does not mix well with ceramic vases.
Sort out access. In a house that means parking near the entry and a clear hallway. In a condo it means a freight elevator reservation, a certificate of insurance for the association, approved work hours, and protection for common areas. A crate holding a panel over 30 inches wide is heavy and oversized, and a stair carry is always a risk.
Confirm the wet area is genuinely finished: tile grouted, pan or slope complete, plumbing set, and the pan manufacturer sealant fully cured. If the tile setter is coming back to "touch up a few joints," push the glass date.
Expect noise and drilling dust during the work, so keep kids and pets out of the zone. A typical install runs two to five hours depending on panel count and anchoring complexity.
The one rule after installation is no showering for 24 hours. Fresh sealant needs time to cure; wetting the joint early costs adhesion and it will start lifting within months. Do not trim or scrub fresh silicone either.
