A working cleaning routine for glass showers
What to do daily, weekly, and seasonally to keep shower glass clear for years.
Caring for a glass shower comes down to one principle: never let water dry on the glass. Everything else follows from that, including which products to use and how often deep cleaning is needed.
Daily: after showering, run a squeegee down the glass from top to bottom, twenty to thirty seconds. Then leave the door ajar and run the exhaust fan for about twenty minutes so the perimeter dries. That alone pushes deep cleaning weeks out.
Weekly: a one-to-one white vinegar and water solution in a spray bottle, applied to the glass, five minutes of dwell, wiped with microfiber, rinsed and dried. Wipe metal afterward with a clean damp cloth so acid does not sit on the finish.
Seasonally: flush tracks and rollers, inspect seals and sealant, and clear buildup around anchor points. Give the bottom glass edge its own look — film accumulates there fastest and is hardest to notice.
Avoid: abrasives, metal scrapers, chlorine products on metal, and heavy-duty descalers used indiscriminately. Skip dish soap too — it leaves a film that minerals cling to even more readily.
