12 questions to ask before ordering shower glass
What to ask a shower enclosure company so the quote and the install hold no surprises.
A glass shower is a made-to-measure product, so most unpleasant surprises come not from glass quality but from things left unsaid at order time. Here is the list of questions we tell homeowners to ask any contractor, including us.
About the glass: what thickness and why; tempered or laminated; extra-clear or standard green float; is the edge polished on all sides. If a salesperson cannot explain why a wide door got that specific thickness, treat it as a warning sign.
About hardware: manufacturer and product line; what panel weight the hinges are rated for; is there a separate warranty on the mechanics; will the same-geometry part still be available in five years. That last one matters because holes in tempered glass cannot be moved later.
About measuring and fit: who performs the field measure and when; what happens if walls are out of plumb; how much tolerance is built into the cut sizes; who pays for remakes if dimensions are wrong. The correct answer is that the installer takes the measurements and owns them.
