Caring for a glass shower: fewer water spots
Habits, cleaners, and coatings that keep tempered glass clearer longer.
Spots on glass are mostly mineral deposits from water plus soap residue. Harder water means a white film faster. Good news: tempered glass responds to simple habits — no harsh chemistry required.
After showering, squeegee or wipe with soft microfiber top to bottom while water is still wet. Weekly, use a neutral glass cleaner or non-abrasive shower cleaner. Scrub pads and powders leave micro-scratches that hold scale even more.
Don’t pour acid or chlorine tile cleaners on hardware — they ruin chrome, matte black, and bronze finishes. Wipe metal with a soft cloth and seals with a damp cloth; every few months check that gaskets haven’t hardened.
Hydrophobic coatings reduce wetting so water beads and runs off. They’re helpers, not permanent armor — refresh per the maker’s guidance. Floor slope to the drain matters just as much: standing water at the threshold will spot the bottom of the panel no matter the coating.
If scale is already heavy, start with a mild lime remover per instructions, rinse well, and dry. For stubborn buildup, call a pro rather than scrubbing with abrasives. Good care keeps the enclosure looking sharp for years — especially with a tight install.
